Valentine One all the way. Expensive, yes, but worth every penny. If you buy a used one make sure the software has been updated. I have one for my car and bike and I cant tell you how many times they saved my wallet and driving record. By the way they are not waterproof or even resistant, I found that out the hard way so now I keep a nice ziplock bag ready to go for the one on my bike.

valintine 1 is the best hands down in my opinion it has saved me more money in tickets than i paid for it. I have had mine for 10 plus years and it has been back to the factory once for a free upgrade

I have run a Valentine for about 10 years ... initial cost of around $500 ... I sent it in to get an upgrade to POP radar ... I think it cost $100 for the upgrade. :rockwoot: I really like knowing if the radar is front, back, or to the side of me. :)

Regardless, I bought an Escort Passport for my Motor Cycle. I ran it with the Valentine side by side for a while. the passport was ok but not impressed. I will use the Escort on my bike, but will really trust my Valentine.

Seriously though, are radar detectors even relevent anymore?l With all the high snoot anti radar detector gizmos they have nowadays how long before it's necessary to update your detector because they've updated the radar. I have an escort, circa 1998 that I haven't used in years. I'm sure it is like comparing signal flags to satellite communications so it hasn't left the shelf in years when looking at todays detectors. But doesn't Valentine make radar units as well as radar detectors? That's a sweet deal on their part; Mr Cop sir, your radar gun is obsolete compared to the latest generation of detectors you'd better spend thousands of dollars to upgrade your department. Or, Mr traffic law scofflaw, your detector is obsolete compared to the latest generation of radar you'd better spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade your equipment.

Sweet deal for Valentine! Wish I'd have thought of it.

Then the best advise I can give you for that price range is slow down and do the speed limit.
    Not being sarcastic either.

In my opinion (which is worth about as much as you paid for it) there are only 2 good reliable radar detectors on the market. One is the Valentine and escort is the other. Yes both of them are expensive, but well worth it. If you are looking for something that will detect electronic doors at the CVS, get anything you want, but if you want something that will warn you up to 1 mile prior to a speed trap get something that is worth it and will work.

While that's good advice in general, the last two speeding tickets I have gotten in the last 5 years, I was going the speed limit, and if you contested them the judge would apply the maximum penalty which was several times the amount of just paying for the diversion program.

I have the same car in pearl white. fun cars. Have you done the modification to disable traction control AND stability control? If you do that it makes it even more fun:D. (the traction control button only turns off the traction control, not stability control). Stability control will cut the power to your engine when the g-forces get to a certain level. I can now do donuts and slide around corners without it cutting the power to my tires. Its pretty easy, let me know if you want a link.

As for radar detectors, i use a cheapo one i got from walmart. It works good for me. i think it was like $35
