That Beehive trail is something else, isn't it? Half way up, my wife wanted to kill me for making her climb it.

    :):
Great confidence builder. There was a younger couple probably in their 20s behind us quite a ways. They almost caught up with us close to the metal grate catwalk. We (I'm 58 and the Mrs. is 57) pulled away for good from there. I looked back when one of my Hydroflasks worked its way out of my pack and started tumbling down...... and the girl was hugging a rock and panicky. They finally made it to the top.

    My guess: Eastern Box Turtle

How in the world did you see that little thing? Years ago I was working at a house next to a creek, and as I was walking up the drive I saw a tiny snapping turtle...about 2" diameter. If it hadn't been on the paved walk, I would have never seen it.

It was right in front of my next step, on freshly mowed grass.

Next question. What kind of eggs might these be? I have found two of them unbroken on my garden landscaping fabric. There is a tree overhead, but it seems like the egg couln't survive the fall? 20230528_140727.jpg

They look to be invisible eggs.

Random flowers around the property. All primed for the pollinators. Kid is growing 10 caterpillars, so hopefully 10 more butterflies do their thing.
