I've noticed lately that a lot of online retailers are charging full MSRP when they do have inventory. Hard to find much of any good deals in this current climate. If you come across something that you really want you're gonna have to pony up and grab it before someone else does.

Here's my comment on gun shop pricing.

A gun shop has overhead. Mortgage or rent probably, utilities, employee wages, taxes, massive liabilty insurance, administrative supplies, building maintenance, landscaping, security, etc.

Let's use small numbers here to make the point. Suppose the gun shop needs to make $100 per month to break even, and anything over that is profit that can be used to grow the business and increase product lines and services.

When they can get a hundred Grock 9mm a month for $50 each, and sell them all at $60, each, no problem. $10 profit per, $1000 profit per month. Good times. Lights are on, and everyone's getting paid. They're making money.

But when Grock cant move them out of the factory fast enough to meet demand, and the gun shop can only get 5 Grocks a month, obviously they need to raise prices to be able to meet their expenses. $60 retail goes to $80 retail, just to keep the doors open and not become a money hole. No profit, just keeping the doors open. A $100 price yields a profit, and keeps the owner engaged in the business, but people start pissing and moaning all over the internet about the "price gouging".
Same thing with ammo and shipping... when they normally order cases of 9mm each month, with bulk shipping, it doesn't add much to the price per box... when the distributor is parcelling out a couple boxes at a time because of demand, the shipping hits the price a lot harder.

I know my favorite LGS makes more on Pmags, 10/22 mags, holsters, accessories etc, and range time...than they do (new) guns...so that's what I spend my money on there.

Good call. Someone who sold a gun here for almost 3 times it's worth is bitching about price gouging. What a fricking joke.
    1. That’s not the gun I sold.
The one in sold had the ghost ring sights choked barrel model 81198 I may have posted incorrectly.
    2. I paid much more than $340 for the gun, over $649 with shipping several years ago.
    3. I was told it was no longer available through Remington. I did my research on the web and several were sellling for $950 with bids on gunbroker so I listed for $150 less at $800 of best offer.

Well I’m done. People argue that members only come for the classifieds so I decide to posts something that frustrates me to simply start a discussion...

Some of the local stores are at MSRP or higher.

Yep. Used to be you could find a better deal online but with online dealers charging MSRP plus tax now and transfer fees not so much anymore.

Son and I have amassed quite a collection of firearms, ammo, reloading supplies and equipment over the years. When thing were cheap, we bought bulk ammo, supplies etc., firearms were purchased in similar style, although we did purchase many new at the going price when they were plentiful and/or from individuals that wanted to sell at reasonable prices.

We have done this for 30+ years and do not need anything at this point - although I will purchase more firearms and bulk ammo when the prices come back down (may be a few years though).

Son tells me he is getting calls asking to purchase some ammo - reloading supplies etc. He always tell them hexx no.

Most everyone here today has seen the shortages of rimfire ammo and other items in the last few years. I have little sympathy for people that have been shooting for years complaining now. As for the new shooters, I do feel sad, but not enough to sell items we have taken years to acquire!

You just need a thicker skin! Everyone posting their opinions, nothing more. You get to see what people are like this way and we see what you are like.
My opinion, gougers suck, making a profit is called commerce.

Well in 2020 I bought two Gen 3 Glock 23’s and one Gen 3 G-19, average $450 ea, and I can get Gen 5’s for $398.20.
Soni psychiatrist d more to get what I wanted in the pistols. Two are as new in box and one a worn LE turn in from the US Marshals service.
    That one I carry.
SR Jenkins Police Supply had one Gen 5 G-17, and by one G-45, at that price and one G-43 w GNS for $411.
    And that was it!
So get what you can when you can say, (IMHO) it’s only going to get worse.
Sellers will get what they can.

I saw some ammo online this afternoon from miwallcorp.com. They had some Winchester 9mm under 80cpr and some Winchester 556 m855 for under 90cpr. Was gonna grab some tonight. All gone. And now everything similar is over a buck per on ammoseek.

I hate myself for ever buying from CTD in the beginning. Only because a friend suggested it. Look at them gouging here.

I've bought several things over the years from CTD at excellent prices. I like them, I like their prices when things aren't crazy, and I will continue to buy from them when their prices meet the threshold of what I'm willing to pay versus what I'm buying.

If that rifle is in stock, and can be put in a buyers hand in a few days shipping time, and THE BUYER IS WILLING TO PAY THAT PREMIUM, then how is it price gouging?

Please explain to us what you would price that rifle at, and how you arrive at that price.

Maybe you should ask the Texas Attorney General.

I guess I could have clarified... I’m talking current manufacture firearms and not limited editions or classics. Yes a Colt SAA was $20 new in the late 1800’s and possibly worth $20000 today. I’m referring to the basic stock $399 M&P 9mm going for $500 plus.

I would say that the difference is that you can actually get a used $500 M&P 9mm. If what I'm seeing, you don't stand much of a chance of buying much of anything new.

Maybe I would, if I wanted a nanny goverment to protect me from my own choices.

But I can make my own choices without getting the government involved. No nannies needed.

Some of their stuff is decent priced. And I buy a few things here and there. But the price of that rifle is insane. On other gun sites they are known for being too expensive and many are jaded against them.

Like the old saying goes. Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Price to high. Don't buy.
