I started out helping with my wife's teams and then my daughter's teams and ended up spending over 40 years involved in softball. It can be rewarding and frustrating. Glad I did it though.
Sounds very familiar, I've coached a couple of Rec and Travel ball teams, been asked to come talk to my Alma Mater for taking over the JV team. Just not enough time in the day and I won't coach a HS team that my daughter could play on. Don't need or want the drama that goes along with that.

I was a coach/volunteer with my daughters high school softball team for 8 years, covering their entire time in high school. The good far outweighed the bad. A lot of working midnights to be available and taking vacation time. Then go from HS ball to summer travel ball. Yeah, it took a lot of time, but overall it was a great experience.
