Say one had insurance for 300k but you still owe 200k on the house. So does the insurance give 200k to the bank and the other 100k to you?

Car loan: insurance pays because it's still the bank's for v paid off: solIt's like when the van was stolen. The mental shock of losing the van, where did it go. And then the anger. And then the headache of dealing with a cold couldn't care less insurance company and the wait and wait for them to pay out and then they just cut you off of the rental.

The bank has a lien on the property so Insurance pays them first
Then depending on your Policy you either
1: Replacement Cost - you buy a new replacement and submit receipt to insurance - they pay you up to limits of policy
2: Current Value - adjuster estimates the Current Value of items lost - $1000 sofa 5 years old now worth $300 - up to limits of policy
