Well, no one with any sense at all cares about the Huffington Post or reads their garbage, so ANYTHING that blog has to say is immediately discredited at 'stupid'.

That said, reading the NRA-ILA article, the NRA made valid points. The NRA is correct, the OCT loons are wrong.

If the NRA wants any credibility at all, they had no choice but to condemn such nonsense.

I don't know if the NRA issued that statement for political purposes, or because it's what they actually believe, but they're right. I'm sure it goes against INGO thought but this nonsense of carrying long guns into chain restaurants is moronic and has backfired everywhere it has been tried. It's stupid and reckless.

IMO - the NRA failed on levels - but so have those in TX trying to legalize O.C. of HANDGUNS in that state - and other groups working to remove the draconian
level of "CC" only and "no printing" or lose your CHL (or whatever) rules ... there and in other states.

(sorry, but I laughed at the "texas has a robust gun culture 2nd to none" line - that's funny right there, if you really look at the laws in TX)

and standing in the corner to our left is MdA MAIG, ETfGS, CSGV, and every other socialistic anti-gun group - laughing their butts off at all of us arguing

Divide and Conquer ... sheesh ...

and NO i do not support any hoosiers OC'ing to restaurants, nor have I done it, - I doubt my marlin would even offend a city squirrel.
I think TX OC groups needs to be smarter; Hence their latest stance on Long Guns and such ...
but the NRA could lend some clout ... and support the facts ... which they missed a few ... their "these are scary" lines sound like they work for M.Bloomy almost.

    as well as we all need to be aware of the legalities - Chili's - Chipotle - (serving alcohol) have legal reason NOT to allow the OC'er in TX not to come in;
and this 'request' does not apply to EDC's in IN ... at least not yet ... same with Starbucks ...

OCT strikes back. Kirk, they are threatening to drop support of the NRA. I know that will give you sleepless nights.
NRA rebukes open gun carrying trend, Open Carry Texas feels alienated - CBS News
The group still felt betrayed by the NRA. On Monday, Open Carry Texas threatened to withdraw its support for the national organization, saying, "If they do not retract their disgusting and disrespectful comments, OCT will have no choice but to withdraw its full support of the NRA."
The group posted a photo of an NRA membership card cut up.

    1. Maybe if more people here told OCT how they're going about this wrong, they might listen. http://www.twitter.com/opencarrytexas/

    2. Given that this story is #1 on reddit's /r/news sub, with thousands of comments... it was a good move on the NRA's part. It reaches the right audience, and takes the right stance to appease both sides.

The Dude said it best... "You're not wrong, you're just an *******."

Just slightly off topic and not meaning to threadjack, but when I look at the acronym MAIG, I think aren't we all against "illegal" guns?

Chris Cox, Exec. Director of NRA-ILA was on that Cameron NRA show today and said that this ISN'T the position of the NRA and the staffer that wrote that was writing his own opinion and was, "Spoken to."

I'm all for our right to carry, but some people want shock value which ruins it for us all. Its kinda like the idiot on the news for walking around with his ar in protest of losing his liscenes to drive for not paying his tickets. Pure douchebaggery right there. It will cost us all our rights.

What the OCT is doing is not weird or scary. It is downright, full throttle, stupid. Full retard on high. They should drop support of the NRA but first the NRA should drop support of them. More than that they should publically condemn their actions and call what they are doing exactly what it is.

Attention whoring. Please do not feed the attention whores.

OCing a rifle, has its time and place. But those dumb ****s ought to know what they are doing is dangerous for the rest of us.
