Looks like it's about what was expected. I'm not sure what I will personally do but 120 days to register with no tax stamp. They sure do want as many people as they can get on another list.

So it turned out the delays were actually just so they could scrap the whole worksheet idea and blanket declare that all braces = stocks and all brace owners = felons.

Perhaps it's the cynic in me... but perhaps dropping it today, immediately prior to a 3-day weekend, effectively reduces the 120-day free registration period to 117 days?

Was watching DLD / John Crump youtube channel and they were reading the "rule" and seemed to think that the way it was worded an Ar pistol is still an SBR even if you remove the brace and are only left with the buffer tube. So Ar with less than 16" barrel and only a buffer tube is still an SBR. Therefore you just can't toss your brace in the trash and think you're in compliance. You would have to register it. Which I guess would make all Ar pistols SBR's? They were discussing this towards the end of the video around :49 min.

I watched that part of the video, but think they are reaching a bit. From the ATF site:

This rule is effective the date it is published in the Federal Register. Any weapons with “stabilizing braces” or similar attachments that constitute rifles under the NFA must be registered no later than 120 days after date of publication in the Federal Register; or the short barrel removed and a 16-inch or longer rifle barrel attached to the firearm; or permanently remove and dispose of, or alter, the “stabilizing brace” such that it cannot be reattached; or the firearm is turned in to your local ATF office. Or the firearm is destroyed.
