    On the right is a base that the pole broke out of.
    On the left, is a base that disintegrated.

    Here is a new tree, completed with plastic.
    I use guy lines (yellow) to hold the plastic pipe up, instead of the big base.
    The metal ring at the bottom is staked to the ground, not the pole.
    You can see 2 controllers mounted to the pipe. That's because there are 12 red/12 white strings, and a controller only handles 16 outputs.

    This is how I mount the top of the light string, to the hooks.
    Also, you can see the yellow guy lines I've added.
