    1,000 yards out
I’ve taken 3 deer with 10mm. One was with a factory XTP as I shot it (legally In season) at 30’ with my stock G20, stock sights while coming up my driveway. One was at 49 yards from my side door after I’d gone in for snacks, with the stock G40 and RDS, the other at 25 yards from my roof. Both were my 180gr XTP loads. The farthest I tracked was about 20 yards. I’ve yet to test my 200gr hard cast nuclear loads against live targets, but they shoot just fine out of my stock barrel G40.

    Nice hunting grounds!!!

I went to the 10mm because I wanted 357 magnum power in a semiautomatic handgun without paying a fortune for one. I ran across the load data while searching for a load for 45acp and noticed the speed of the 155gr and 180gr were actually the same and in some loads much faster than a 357 magnum. So I bought my first 10mm a Glock 20sf. I was then in search of a 10mm 1911 (I blame INGO 1911 lovers and fans for it) I wanted a Ronin in 10mm. Couldn't find one. So my son bought me a RIA Ultra FS 10MM for Christmas and I've fell in love with the 1911 platform since.
It’s easy to fall in love with a 1911.

And that’s all the proof I need for 10mm out of a pistol. If it will put a deer in the freezer it will stop a threat, most likely with a single round.

My thought is that you should go with the most power that you can handle that is practical for the situation. I’m pretty fortunate that my body shape is where I can carry full size handguns concealed without problem. My Glock 20 I’ve used for everything from CCW to a bush gun while in the Rockies. Only have to change the load out. For CCW I like these Underwood 135gr. They dump all their energy in the first thing they hit, so no overpenetration.

I just have a Glock 40 MOS with an RMR. I love the gun and want a G29 Gen 4 to back it up. Then a Longslide 1911 in 10mm. I want a Remington R11 Hunter, or a Springfield Armory TRP Operator Longslide. I can't afford anything like a Nighthawk or an Ed Brown.

I added the SA ronin in 10. Accurate and smooth with everything I've fed through it. It compliments the G40 & S&W 610.

It seems to me that there are several serious gun people on this site moving to a 10mm firearm. Watching the WTT posting seems to prove out this theory. So my question is what is the main driving force behind this?
It seems that the Alaska people have adopted it for bear protection.
    I have done the same.
It has a cult following these days.
Its an effective and interesting load.
It wouldn't be my daily carry gun though.
It's too much gun for everyday stuff.
Ammo is expensive and not as available too.

I don’t believe I have ever heard someone that was actually involved in a shoot out that commented they had “too much gun”.
    Probably so.

It more so the size of the gun.
The larger and heavier the gun, the less likely a person will carry it 100% of the time.

I’ve been a 10mm fan since it’s infancy. Have had numerous guns in that caliber and still have a few. You can get loads from 40 Short n Weak power all the way up to the Nuclear loads. It’s a good caliber and I’m glad that more manufacturers are producing quality guns in 10mm. Now if they’d only put out an affordable PCC on the AR platform that uses Glock mags. I know about the Banshee but I think it’s just overpriced for what it is. Hopefully someday I’ll get one….

I started with one of the first Deltas available and have owned most guns available in 10mm. Have sold/traded most of them but still have a few. I really regret selling a couple 610s, the Ruger Buckeye in 10/38-40 and my first Delta. I still have a Delta Gold Cup, a 610, a couple Glocks and a couple Witnesses. I saw a really nice 1911 Long Slide at the 1500 but my mission that show was to get a P09, which I accomplished. Always looking for 610s and 1076/1086/1006 pistols.
