    Did you shoot the 44's with the bayonet extended? I've heard that they were better that way because of barrel harmonics or something.
    No i didn't, i have shot mousers and garands with bayonets attached though seemed accuracy was off on those. Could be the carbine might have shot better anyone else know??

    The dates and models on these can be quite difficult to keep up with. I have a M44 model that was built in 1943.

    The dates and models on these can be quite difficult to keep up with. I have a M44 model that was built in 1943.
    1943 was the 1st year production, a run of 50k where produced for field trials that year. the Russians continued to produce them until 1948 at Izhevsk. They produced them for 1 year , 1944, at Tula also.

    The last "M44" produced anywhere was the Chinese Type 53 in 1960 and the total production that year was shipped to North Vietnam.

    M38s in M44 stocks isn't uncommon. As they needed replaced, there would obviously be more M44 pattern stocks available from (at the time) current production runs.
