What would you consider as your list of minimum needed to be able to exhale and say you are in decent shape if a disaster isolated you and your spouse at home for an unknown period?

It's hard to put a figure on things to a lot of us country folk who kind of live on rotating preps.

Putting up garden, animal, hunting and fishing yields is just a way of life that combines healthy nutritious habits and methods to make them last through the off seasons.

A much harder quiz is your list of minimum (and maximum) needed to be in decent shape to take with you on a disaster forced evacuation.

72 hour bugout bag, absolute bare minimum. Doesn’t mean you have to bug out, but gives you the ability to get off the X AND use it if you bug in.

My real bare minimum is a bugout bag AND a week’s worth of bug-in supplies:

One gallon of water per person per day, 2000 calories per person per day, ability to cook said calories, ability to warm a microclimate, ability to dispose of human waste/cooking waste, ability to provide alternative energy at least to charge a cell phone, if not a larger radio for intelligence gathering

If I stripped it all and knew I had a good solid water filter like a sawyer, or something similar and bucket of rice I'd still feel good. A sawyer filter is $20 - $30. Bags of rice are still pretty cheap no matter what type you prefer.

You absolutely need Food, Water, & Shelter. You don't really need a ham radio with license, piles of guns and ammo, piles of medical supplies, piles of camping and backpacking gear so survive most of the disasters that have hit humanity for a week. All that stuff is nice to have, but you don't really "need" it for a one week issue. Now, if that week turns into 3 months without power, then you'll wish you had some of those things.

A couple weeks to a couple months of food...just basic stuff....remember most things need water to cook.
Enough water on hand or a pond, river, lake very close...try carrying 5 gallons of water for a mile.
    A means of protection ( firearm ).
And a way to keep warm in the winter.....
