Member Location Map?

I first joined back in 2011.

I seem to remember a member location map that allowed people to sign up with their cities. They'd show up as blips on the map.

The location was approximate; it didn't give away locations any closer than the city.

I don't see that any longer. What ever happened to it? Or, an I just misremembering?

Yeah, I can see that. The one I remember was of Indiana, and showed blips. It was interesting looking at the relative concentrations in the different areas.

I really doubt the ATF needs the member map of a message board to spy on the citizenry. Is this really the reason it went away?

It was specifically opt-in. Couldn't remember for sure if it was this board, but Brandon seems to remember it, too.

I don't see Location at the top right of any posts.

Edit: I see now, but it's under a person's avatar (like Southside Indy for mine). If I click on "Southside Indy" it opens Google Maps. I never knew that before!

Edit 2: It's not very accurate. If I click on Mitchell for example, it gives me business names with Mitchell in them or streets with Mitchell in the name, etc..

I remember it as described. A simple map with a dot showing each participating members area.

Couldn't even tell you the last time I saw it. Probably when I put my area on it.

The IRS has your address. If you have registered any vehicles with the state, your address is listed on the BMV database. The county treasurer lists property owners, their addresses, and their tax bills. White Pages and similar websites list addresses. I am guessing the the BATFE probably has hackers who can get around security measures on the INGO site.
