Hopefully it'll help. If the gubbermint won't help keep it's people safe, then hopefully private businesses can find a way to fend off crime on their own like this. Not much of a choice with the piece of :poop: DA they have... :(
It sounds like they are going to flush the :poop: DA. About time.

Or is the situation the city is in due to the fact that the criminals know it's very unlikely that anyone will effectively fight back? Will guaranteed armed security be a deterrent, no matter how poorly armed? I'm curious to see what effect this actually has.
I dunno. I don't place a whole lot of stock in deterrence. You might direct the losers to easier targets, but the real guys will just up the level of violence and aggressiveness they plan to deploy on the target.

Maybe. Guess we'll have to keep an eye on the news to find out.

    Some.
    And to a certain point.
Criminals aren't big on fighting hardened targets and risking themselves.
Not to say it doesn't happen. But in general.

Yep. You gotta really have something they REALLY want to attack a hardened target.
Odds are in the case of a run of the mill gas station, they'll simply drive another 5 minutes to the next one up the road that isnt paying for security.
