Once upon a time I had a job that required me to knock on the doors of complete strangers on a regular basis. Most had dogs, many of which were free ranging, but we rarely had problems with them. I only encountered pit bulls once on the job that I recall and I have little doubt that we would have been in a lot of trouble had they been able to escape their kennel as they were desperately trying to do. The property also gave off a distinct nefarious activity vibe, so I also have little doubt the pits' behavior was an accurate reflection of their owners.

The only actual incidents I had were with Australian shepherds, three of them tried to attack me while on the job. All three events were as I was leaving the property and involved me either having my back turned to the dog or the dog circling behind me. The first lunged at me as I closed the fence on its yard. The second was deterred by turning abruptly to face it as I saw it bristling up and circling behind me. I slammed the truck door on the third one's head as it lunged for my leg.

Just last week as I was working on one side of a duplex the other tenant came over to show me pics of her grandchild.

Kid just got out of the first grade. Was at her mother's new boyfriend's house, upstairs alone with the dog. Something happened and the kid ended up with eight stitches. Along the bridge of her nose and her cheek.

The mother was heard talking to her sister hours later and said accidents happen. I have not seen the dog. Tenant claims it is a pit type. Big and burly.

All I know is that little girl is lucky and will have scars for a long while to help her remember what happened.

So you don’t know anything about it but know it had to be an evil assault dog.

Its just as relevant to the conversation as people who post pictures of their Pits as proof that the breed is not dangerous, those who think they were bred to be "Nanny Dogs" , and the guys who like to bring "assault" weapons into the discussion.

Comparing Pitbulls to firearms is sheer idiocy. It’s a comparison that you would expect a screeching leftist to attempt to make.

The screeching about pit bulls is very reminiscent of the screeching about assault weapons.
What is an internet forum, if not incessant screeching about this, that or the other? The leftist part of the screeching is the sheer stupidity of comparing inanimate objects with living animals that very much have a will of their own.

For those that can’t differentiate between a gun and a mongrel, this is how you sound…

I notice the family is having the dog put down. I believe if this happened it would have been dead at the scene at my home or in my presence.

People need to learn to grab them by their back legs and pull them off they can't do anything to you or the victim because they lose stability.

For politicians... saying the words "pit bull" are akin to uttering magic words like "Wonder twin powers, activate!", or "By the power of Grayskull!" It's like their Viagra.

They conjure up the same images of population control as "assault rifle" "ghost gun" "gun show loophole" and wait for it... this one is good... "common sense gun control laws".

Notice this dog was pit bull mix?
Is this like all guns being Glock, or AR15?
