I've been wanting to get a safe for a while now. It would mainly be for paperwork and important stuff, but a gun safe isn't out of the picture.

    My criteria:
Either able to be bolted down, or big enough that it can't be carried out.
    Fire resistant.
    Easy on the wallet.
I'm open to any size, but it needs to be bigger than a lock box.

Lowe's had a nice gun safe for what I thought to be a decent price, but it didn't say whether or not it was fire rated.

    Any suggestions?

What is your ball park price range?

My advice would be to get the best 'quality' safe you can afford.

I was thinking about it. What I will probably do is get a gun safe that I like and that fits what I want to spend. And then to protect my paperwork and other stuff flammables, I will get a firebox and keep that in the safe.

I get the protection with the fire box, and have the immobility of the gun safe.

That video was kind of bogus. Yes, you can break into a safe... If you have enough room to flip it and get the leverage needed to pry the door open.

Although, I try to go by the saying that locks and security will only keep honest thieves out.

I'm in the market for a smaller safe I can keep my Glock on my nightstand or under the bed. I'd prefer to just keep it in the open but my wife is not having it so I have to compromise. Suggestions.

I just need room for a glock and some mags

I just keep mine on the nightstand, and the shotgun is over by the bed too. I guess I'm lucky. :D

I like the look of that executive sentry, but I'm leaning toward a regular gun cabinet. Any thoughts on where do find a decent price on a nice/decent one?
