Love it! You do a great job working thru obstacles. Me? If they need cleaned(fiting pin channels) they get a thorough blasting with gumout carb/throttle body cleaner. No assembly/disassembly rq'd.♧

Yes, the icon expresses how I felt today with the CZ 512 now that I accidentally discovered the barrel was 1/8" loose when I cleaned it last evening & tightened the 2 small screws on each side of the front of the forearm.
Now it is shooting like it has in the past.

97% score today: 34/35 being in the .5" red circle.
I wanted to keep going b/c I knew I could get 100% on a row of 7 targets.
But, I had 3 other guns to work with & 2 had to be returned after the range visit today.
I thought I'd get back to the rifle, but after 3 hrs. I was tired. :fogey:

I can't wait to bump this rifle up to 50 yds outdoors & am confident to 100 yds this summer.
Today was maybe the last day of 25 yds for the CZ 512.

Well poop ... guess I'm not going to be buying this rifle from you any time soon.

I should never have sent you the info on the Lead Sled at WalMart ... and whoever told you to clean your rifle is off my Christmas card list forever.

Sooooo ... now that you have a rifle that you're comfortable shooting at longer ranges, are you going to start working with shot groups or continue your "hits count" scoring method?

From the looks of your latest targets (especially with this rifle), it's time to graduate to measuring shot groups.

Couldn't agree more. The man can shoot. But, we can only watch so many reruns of doddg vs doddg vs doddg....

Come on doddg, it's time to get those calipers out buddy. All of Ingo is waiting.

I truly enjoyed your humor of "lamentations" this am.
The 512 always did so much better than my beloved and longest owned rifle (10/22 bought from Aeroflyer).
If the 512 had a better trigger, it would be heaven, but it obviously gets the job done. :rockwoot:

The lead sled locks in everything for me & I'm pleased, especially for $72 from Walmart.
I can't wait to try it out with the RPR & CZ 452 Varmint bolts.

Discovering the loose barrel bolts/screws in the front sides of the forearm blew me away.
I'll Loctite those in so it can't happen again.
I assumed barrels were screwed in in such a way that they wouldn't just "come loose." :dunno:
    Lesson learned.

    Concerning measuring groups:
I'm still enamored by getting the rounds into my "circles."
If I have good groups that aren't "centered" & my scope won't dial the groups in the bullseye center,
I'll need to get a better scope that will do so or start measuring groups at that time.
Just a matter of laziness in not doing so, since I'm not in competition with anyone but myself.

This summer, I'm actually more interested in breaking out some of the "match" ammo that I've never used.
This summer when I want to tighten up groups at 100 yds.

Haven't made it to the West side to the MCF&G outdoor range yet this year. :dunno:
I have other things interfering/competing for my time at the range now.
But, the traffic situation is daunting with 70 closed down with traffic rerouting through 465.
I've avoided finding out just how long it will take to travel to/from MCF&G using 465 from the East side to the West side, especially trying to get home in the afternoon.

I'm even looking into an outdoor range on my side of town about the same distance from Wanamaker, but it only goes to 50 yards, which I plan to shoot anyway, but I was hoping to move up to 100 yards this summer.
Last summer I was quickly humbled & discovered I couldn't handle 100 yards with only half of my rounds would going in a 3" or 4" target.
I spent last summer trying to get all rounds into a 1" circle at 50 yards. :wallbash:
Trying being the key word.

At least I'm done with searching for that "perfect" rifle in my price range ($200 - $500) like last year, so that frenetic pace doesn't have to be repeated. :runaway:
Although, if a Tikki or Bergara fell into my lap, I would perhaps succumb.
A friend has a Bergara & when he moves up to the next level, I hope to get it, but I think he's staying at that level of rifle for awhile.
Since I'm not shooting less now, my time might have passed for such pursuits.

After trying out a dozen rifles I ended up with:
    - CZ 512 (semi) My best shooter.
    - CZ 455 (bolt)
    - RPR (rimfire bolt) It is so different from the CZ 455 that I can't let go of it yet even though my goal was to have just one bolt action.
    - Henry Pump is just for fun shooting steel.
All of these rifles were bought from members. :ingo:

Kimber 92g’s from the CMP were 400 dollars a couple years ago. Now with them gone you can double that price. For that you got a 10 pound target rifle that shot very will at 100 yards as long as the ammo was 1050 fps.
    Trigger nice barrel excellent

Finally made it to MCFG for the 1st time this year.
With traffic all backed up on 465 during the week I haven't tried to go.
I thought Sunday would be the best time to test it & it was fine.

Thought I might go 100 yds this summer, but not today & stayed at 50 yds.
The CZ 512 wasn't shooting right & I finally figured out after I was done that the barrel screws had worked loose again.
I forgot to use blue Loctite to anchor barrel screws in after cleaning it last Fall.
But, I was just too tired after 4 hrs at the range & wanted the Loctite to set up.

I enjoyed the rifles today that I settled on last summer.

10 rds each target at 50 yds with CCI SV (except RPR bottom right, only 5 rds)
    x = .75"
    &
    10 = 1.75"
The 512 wasn't as tight as normal & got progressively worse on the next page.
    Range 7.18.2021 CZ 512 and 455 and RPR x.75in and 10x1.75in.jpg

Ignore the CZ 512 (row 1 & 3), the barrel screws were working loose.
I didn't realize what the problem until after done shooting.
Used Loctite on it for next range visit.
5 rds each 1.75" circle, also 50 yds w/CCI SV.

Back out to MCFG, where I was going to kick up the two CZ rifles up to 100 yds. (512 semi & 455),
    but,
ended up just shooting the 512 at 50 yds again.
I didn't have my 1" circle targets I usually use with rifles since I was intending to go 100 yds using the 1.75" circles.

Even though I took the CZ 455 & the RPR, I was too lazy to get them out.
Just too hot & got too tired.
I only lasted 2.25 hrs at the range & I was fatigued.
I can remember staying for 4-5 hrs last summer in the heat.

    On a personal note:
I'm afraid the heart issues are finally catching up with me.
I've been in denial for a couple of years, & with Covid, I got by addressing it, with putting it on hold.
After a TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram), which is sticking a camera down your throat to peak at heart valves, I'm going to have to have a aortic valve replacement, plus an electrical issue needing attention, which is on hold till the valve gets addressed.
Now, back to the main programming, haha!

    X = 5/8" (not 3/4" like I originally thought)
    10 = 1.75"
    50 yds w/CCI SV
    Range 8.22.2021 50 yds. 5.eights inch & 1.75 in circles.jpg

    1.75" circles at 50 yds w/CCI SV
Didn't bring my usual 1" circles I use for 50 yds.
1.75" too easy, I got bored, although I still can't get one big ragged hole at 50 yds.

Finally made it to MCFG for 100 yds fun! :rockwoot:
I was going to sight in the CZ 512 but forgot to bring it & brought the CZ 455 by mistake. :wallbash:

I used Aguila Super Extra HV 40 grain SRN (solid round nose) to get the basic scope adjustment, then switched to CCI SV.
3.75" red circles with the black center being 1 3/8" (1.375").
I'm pleased with the 1.75" targets at 100 yds with CCI SV.
I can't wait to get out the "better" ammo, then maybe I'll be able to use 1" circles like I did at 50 yds last summer.

    Range 09.2021 1st time 455 at 100 yds.jpg

    Range 09.05.2021 2nd round at 100 yds CZ455.jpg

This was 100 yds using the 1.75" circles w/CCI SV.
Last summer I could only get half the rounds inside the 3.75" circles.
This summer I have better rifles, a metal rest, better scopes, which is good since my eyes aren't improving.
I can't wait to get the CZ 512 scoped in for 100 yds, since it shot better than the 455 at 50 yds last summer.

Sunday, Sept. 19 I made it out to MCFG with the CZ 512 finally, with great hopes that were not realized.
Results weren't as good at 100 yds as I thought since at 50 yds the 512 semi beat the CZ 455 & RPR.

Dialing into 100 yds using Aguila HV then switched to CCI SV.
    3.75" circles
    Range 9.19.2021 100 yds 3.75in circles dialing in scope.jpg

Bottom 2 rows was today's shooting with the 512.
    1.75" circles with CCI SV.
Range 9.19.2021 100 yds 1.75in circles still dialing in scope.jpg

Not happy with the groups on 7/8” circles I shot after the
1.75” circles (didn't bother to post).
It seems like the 512 is not holding adjustment
    &
is acting like when the barrel was loose previously.

I’ll have to check it and use
    red instead of blue Loctite
    if it’s loose again.

Got to go to the MCFG range today with Tristan (Aeroflyer) today.
Been a long time since we've done that & he always has fun guns.
Today, I finally got to shoot his Bergara .22LR that his wife bought a walnut stock for him on his birthday.
I wish I would have thought to take a pic of it: drop-dead gorgeous.
I shot 10 rounds but forgot to take a pic.
I got 1 or 2 rounds w/i 1/2 inch & most of the other rounds were at the edge 1/2" circle.
An improvement for me, but I couldn't shoot any of the 1 hole that Tristan did.

This was a page of my 1" targets with an inner 1/2" circle.
He was adjusting his scope for only 50 yds (I wish he'd been doing it for 100 yds).
He was using 3-4 different types of ammo but I can't read it well, but I think a Norma brand & a couple of Eley brands & I think a Wolf brand, but I could be wrong.

100 yds at MCFG today shooting with Aeroflyer/Tristan.
Looks like I need to go back to 50 yds or get some 3" circles, haha!
I dialed in CCI SV & shot with it.
I tried Armscor & CCI Blazer but they both shot about 3" to the left & I didn't want to redial my scope in since the groups weren't impressive anyway.
Didn't have that extreme of difference at 50 yds.

Next time I'll get out some better ammo that I've been saving.
In fact, I need to make a list & ask advice on rating them from high to low & start with the least.

Glad to get back to try out 100 yds with CZ 455 & CZ 512 & some RPR.

    Used CCI SV.

    x + 10 circle = 1.75"
    x + 10 + 9 circle = 3.75"

    455 beats 512 convincingly:

    x + 10 = 19 to 12 (455 to 512)
    Range 11.10.2021 100 yds CZ 455 & 512 2nd round.jpg

Introduced the RPR in this page.
I could see the patterns easier with these 3.75" circles & fine tuned scopes accordingly.
100 yds for the two CZs, but the RPR I kept at 50 yds. for today.
The 25 round mags are too long to use with my sled, I need to get/trade for a 10 round.
