    Between HR 1 and S 51 the Democrats are trying to ensure they never lose another election and maintain control of the Government. What ever happened to Washington D.C. was basically to remain neutral devoid of partisan party politics?

    They should just let DC be reabsorbed back into Maryland, or split it up between MD and VA. I disagree with making it a state.

    So that'll be two more Dem senators. Then P.R. with another two.
    What makes you assume P.R.'s elected officials would always be Democratic? Their current (non-voting) member of Congress is a Republican(ish).

    Cuban Americans have shifted solidly to the Republican Party, and I think there's genuine opportunity for Puerto Rican Americans to be similar.
    This is from a few years ago, but the argument should still apply.
    Yep.

    If the problem is that some people don't get representation by living in D.C., the solution is to shrink D.C. Give portions back to the states that ceded the territory originally.

    How? It was spelled out in the Constitution. Article 1, section 8.

    Exact quote:

    To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;

    I'm guessing by the end of these 4 years they'll pass enough legislation with zero media exposure to ensure they'll never lose again and risk another Trump. I think they'll centralize everything and enable big tech even more. Statehood and the election bills they currently propose are pretty much all they'd have to do. They realized they can steal an election and no court will even hear the evidence. Why pack the courts now? The courts will just turn a blind eye, and focus on social justice cases, cuz that's important, not 1000 sworn affidavits or video evidence.

    Evidence means very different things to different people. 1000 sworn affidavits backed up with video evidence can't compete with the mountains of evidence proving six year old kids are mature enough to decide they should have been born the opposite sex and taking hormones to correct the "mistake" is a good idea.
