Just back from a short vacation to Las Vegas. My first time going so it was a little overwhelming to say the least. I did a quick check before leaving and saw that Nevada recognizes several states license to carry but not Indiana. Does anyone know why that is? Is it possible that the lack of a training class in Indiana is their reasoning?

I believe it change a few years ago, and I believe that was the reasoning.

Something else to note, their knife regulations are not very friendly either. Counties and municipalities can pass their own knife regulations.

So if your EDC knife tastes tend toward anything with a longer blade than a Swiss Army knife, you're in violation of...

12.04.180 – Concealed weapons prohibited without permit.

It is unlawful, within the unincorporated area of Clark County, for any person to carry upon his person a concealed weapon, not permitted in accordance with state law, of any description, including a knife with a blade of three inches or more, capable of being concealed, without first having received written permission therefor from the sheriff. (Ord. 242 § 18, 1965) (Ord. No. 4332, § 7, 10-12-2015)

Where does this "training class" nonsense come from?

    It's not the training class.

    It's the background check.

From what I understand there is a 8 hour training class needed to get your license and a 4 hour refresher every 4 years. It’s possible I was on a old website and it has changed.

Another thing to keep in mind about vegas is that some of the casinos and hotels have allegedly put in those thermal camera systems that will detect a concealed weapon. Specifically I remember seeing something about the Wynn doing it but I’m sure it has expanded since then.

cops are all over the strip and you would never notice. Last time we went we saw a homeless guy sitting with a cardboard sign and when we came back through said “homeless guy” has a badge pulled out on a necklace and had two people in cuffs. Dude looked straight up homeless, dirty unwashed with Long hair and matted beard.

just because you don’t see the cops doesn’t mean they aren’t there. The strip is pretty safe IMO except for pickpockets, scam artists.
