Hello everyone. I have a set of kitchen knives I'd like to get sharpened. They are a Wusthof set, cost about $250 new, I think. I also have a pocket knife I'd like to get touched up.

Is there anyone in town who does this? How much would it cost?

Failing that, what would you recommend in terms of getting them sharpened?

I don't have a grinder -- if I did I would check out paper wheels.

I've read about (and watched youtube videos on) the sandpaper + mousepad system and may be interested in trying that.

I've seen the Spyderco Sharpmaker, that could be an option, too.

    Tips, leads, thoughts, suggestions?

Use a steel first then Lansky, lansky, LANSKY crock sticks.

This right here is exactly what you need, all that you need, and so simple absolutely any one can get a razor sharp edge with it. If you don't want to buy a steel just rub the knife backwards on these the first 5- 10 strokes to uncurl any bent edges and then sharpen as the instruction say with the product.
