So south of I 64 is primarily Scot, Irish, English settlers.
Jasper area is German/Dutch.

If a Amish, Mennonite, German, Dutch calls you “English“ it’s a slur just as bad as other words you might have heard.

Not a slur from Germans or the Dutch.

Probably means "Dutchman"/"Deutch man"/Amish/Mennonite, not people from Germany or Netherlands.

I always took "English" as synonym to "godless heathen" from the button crowd, but they always wave on the road, so never bothered me.
