    Scruff her neck (firmly but not to injure), then remove her from your lap. Even better, make her get down. When she growls, she's trying to establish dominance. When you scruff her and make her get down, you're telling her that you're in charge. She'll get the message pretty quickly.

    Once one or both starts growling, Cocoa will go into attack mode in 3, 2, 1... I have to get her down the quickest way I can.

    That being said, it is happening less and less frequently.

    Keep a squirt gun nearby and when one gets outta hand give him/her a squirt in the face. It won't harm them and they really don't like it. (Just don't confuse your edc....That would be bad. Just kidding. Thats how my son dealt with the exact same issue and it worked.
    DOG...I dont like it that I'm not the one in the lap....
    If I complain I will get the squirt in the face...
    Think I will just go lat down
