Just caught a quick glimpse of the NBC coverage (which by the way, Brokaw is looking pretty rough...) and they took the viewers through their "Election Center" that had all sorts of departments. Polling, vote verification that was looking for any abnormalities or legal issues, and so on.

Then I realized that I bet a bunch of Americans out there might really think that the new media actually runs and operates the polls, rather than state and local governments.

I also laugh when races are being called after 1% of the vote being tallied. Pretty sure there is a huge amount of statistical uncertainty there....but of course every network wants to be "first" to report and call a particular election as final.
