Have an upper I basically want to deconstruct and replace some parts with others. Was wondering how easy it might be to remove the pin and welded flash hider, and if there is any potential trouble in keeping this disassembled parts around considering it wont be a 16" barrel anymore.

If you don't have a lathe, it ain't gonna be easy.....but if you do, and I'm guessing you don't or you would all ready be out in the shop making shavings.....either buy a new barrel and start over, or offer a buddy a pizza for some lathe work

Easier to buy a new upper.
My plan was to get new UR and Rail. Everything else is G2G, Im just sick of this super fat Geissele Mk2 Rail that weights 3x anything else on the market. My upper is a VLTOR MUR. While they look great, they are a bit too fat for me now that I have much lighter weight builds.

I use a mill the cut a flat on the brake. Don't have to disassemble the upper that way.
Not to hard if you have the equipment
