Hospital food is terrible too. I'm eating their "Classic Mac 'n Cheese", something I normally love, but this is garbage. It looks and tastes like yellowish rubber. Kraft is better by a mile.

So far everything I've had here has been the worst I've had.

I bet prison food is better.

You just need to stop going to the hospital man! (Seriously, hope you're better soon!)

It's gonna take a while. We're getting insurance and disability paperwork all lined up and either tomorrow or maybe Friday I'll be moved to an inpatient rehab center. I'll be there for a few weeks to a few months, depending. But I'll get through it. I'll be hitting the dumbbells and kettle bells again, no doubt in my mind.

The food I had at the local hospital was pretty good, my first trip to ICU. After the surgery I didn't feel much like eating at all though.

    Sorry to hear this.
In my past experiences, what makes it worse is when they give you a list of choices, then when you get the meal, it's EVERYTHING you didn't choose.
WHY do they ask you if they're just gonna ignore it?

HOWEVER, when I was at St Vincent on 86th St in Indy in the fall of 2015 for quadruple bypass surgery, they asked me to choose on a list.

THIS TIME, I was there for 5 days, and they brought me what I chose, and it was at least edible and not too bad.
    I was surprised!

Hitting them will get you back in the hospital for hand surgery. I recommend lifting and swinging them.

Although if you want to try prison food, you could throw them threw the window. That may not work though. Perhaps you should throw them at people....or....drop them on someone doing bench presses!

Last time I was there, gave me a turkey sandwich. I was thinking lettuce, cheese, tomato, you know McAllister or Panera.....nope....it was two thin slices of deli turkey in between school cafeteria white bread...with a pack of mumustard.Kinda like what mom threw in the brown sack when she was running late to work.....blech.

So, the dieticians have a certain number of types of meals, cardiac, diabetic, etc. Within that, there are numerous people with special needs, tastes, etc. In the end, what you end up with is basic, bland and institutional. In the end, the dieticians are stuck in the past and locked into erring on the side of blah, but edible versus tasty.

...and cheap because the hospital gets screwed on gvt. reimbursements and charity cases.

at the new Bloomington hospital there is a pizza spot in the cafeteria that sells pizza about as authentic to the north-east as you can get around here. I have friends from Jersey who order full pizzas from it, but complain about the walk of shame out of the hospital food court with a full pizza lol

I spent a month at St Elizabeth Seaton Rehab. For 3 weeks I could have 1" of ice in the bottom of a Styrofoam cup every 4 hours. By the time I was advanced to another food category, which was clear liquids, I had told them I either needed an orange popsicle or a tranquilizer. I got my popsicle and chased it with another. Hospitals aren't known for their food. I did get good food every meal during my last 4 day stay at Community East. Best thing to do is get out asap to home cooking. Good luck!

The only time I had to eat food in a hospital was in Duluth MN, and it was actually good food.
If you did not like it there you could order from Blackwoods Bar and grill(an upper end steak house with amazing Sunday Brunch lol) and have it delivered to your room(once you are out of ICU and into a normal room).

The dietician came in and told me that all I could have the first 24 hours was chicken broth and applesauce, and for a drink I could have tea or sprite. I told her applesauce sucks, don’t bring any, and I don’t drink soft drinks of any kind, so I’ll have tea.

They brought me a sprite and 3 individual servings of applesauce! It went straight in the trash and after I got out, I called billing and told them DO NOT bill me for any food service, I told them what I wanted and they brought me the exact opposite and I threw it in the garbage.
The lady on the phone was polite but I could tell she didn’t give two ****s about what I was telling her.

The dumb dietitian broad never came back, and I told the nurses and the food service girls I didn’t want anything. My wife brought me stuff from home after the first day.

I have had good and bad food in the hospital, seems it depends on location and what I trust them to make.

Hospital gave my wife a cupcake once after a test on her birthday, that was kinda nice
