Most quality holster companies make hole patterns that fit the Safariland three hole mounts. There are also a lot of places making adapters so just about anything can be mounted to that same hole pattern. This assumes one is looking for a holster to mount to a dedicated gun belt and not OWB or AIWB concealed carry options (of which most hole patterns are pretty standard).

    not lost, wandering...
Yea I found a place that had a holster available for a newer model pistol and they give the option to pick the mounting hole pattern (pic was from the selection page). Had to think about it for a sec. Would be nice if IDPA would allow USPSA belts and drop holsters so 2 rigs wouldn't be necessary, but I get it that defeats their sport's purpose. Hell with as much as belts, holsters, red dots, spare mags, & ammo costs, they should give us the guns for free.
