If you put an item up for sale delete your sell when it's sold. Dang, as bad as craigslist, market place and county swaps.
You must not have gotten the memo.

The rules say we keep them up and mark them as “sold” when appropriate. The reason, at least to my understanding, is that it allows sellers to see what the going rate is for a certain item so that it may assist the seller in pricing the item accordingly.

I would also add that it’s generally not very neighborly to walk into somebody’s house and then start wiping your dirty feet on the carpet because you don’t like the color.

Sure seems like prices get edited out.

I do believe I can make this make sense. On the other places you mentioned, when an item is sold, the ad is removed, I think.

We do not do that here. We leave everything up, but marked sold or closed, so others can get a feel of what a particular item is selling for. Since the majority of what is for sale is firearms related, there are very few other ways to get that info.

Plus the software of the forum won't let members delete threads. And the staff wouldn't have time to go and delete each thread when it's gone.

Here's the good part. If you don't care for our rules, we're not making you use the classifieds. You can stick to craigslist, marketplace and the like.

OP hasn't been on those sites or forums very long then. old FB ads get deleted in a few days once the seller marks it sold. Same for CL. forums have NEVER deleted old FS sites as long as I've been using them and that's the last 20 years.
