Hello, fellow gun nuts

What’s going on, I’m new to this site and trying to find my way around lol. I’m an avid bird hunter who just got back into deer this past season.
Quick question for anyone that’s been deer hunting a while - what’s your preferred rifle cartridge? I know Indiana just legalized rifle hunting in the not so distant past and I’m curious to what everyone thinks. I’m currently leaning towards a 6.5 creedmor (I know, don’t shoot me ) or a 7mm-08.
My main draw to these was the light recoil, accuracy, and punch that each round carries. I don’t need something overkill like a 7mm mag or 30-06 (at least I don’t think.)
