First off, I know next to nothing about gunsmithing. That being said -

My SAA replicas are inconsistant setting off hard primers, Magtech, S&B, etc. With the primer shortage, I'm considering going with GINEX primers or something similar, but will need a heavier hammer spring in my revolvers. Are there companies that make them? I wouldn't know where to start looking. I've found replacement springs of OEM weight but nothing else.

    Thanks for the help.

Original hammer springs for the SAA, first and second generation are much heavier. They set off any modern primer made.

Are they interchangeable with the Uberti / Pietta replicas?

Should be very close as a lot of people replace the Colt springs with Ubertis or other aftermarket. Hammer force on an old Colt is very high, a testament to what it took to set off primers in those days.

Creedmoor is right, Wolf is a good place for aftermarket springs of all types.

I'll add that ASM repro guns have a screw in the back of the hammer that adjusts the depth of firing pin protrusion. It's function is to serve as a "safety" for ATF import specifications. You will have inconsistent ignition with everything if this has backed out, but it's easy to screw back in and hold with a little blue Loctite.

Most of the top competitors is Western shooting install heavy mainsprings to decrease lock time which is dreadfully slow on a big single action - not as bad as a flintlock but awfully long wait for "hammer falls - gun fires Wait for it". I installed heavier than stock springs in all of my Rugers and I started hitting better immediately.
