I really wanted the Commemorative M17 or M18. Just to know a service member carried it TO defended freedom which is cool even if it didn’t actually see a war. I would pay +$200 for that. It is not worth +$500-1000. I really like the gun for what it is as well. I couldn’t find a commemorative for a decent price. I think the MSRP was $700-800, not $1100-2500. I just went ahead and bought a regular M18.

One thing I didn’t know before I brought it home was the trigger group module is the gun or the regulated part. For another $500 I could turn it into an M17. I think I can turn it into any P320 variation but I don’t know if they sell the kits for anything other than M17 <> M18 at the moment.

The commemorative units came with a special display box and “challenge coin” when you register them. My gun came with a little add offering to sell me that stuff. So I could really get anything the commemorative gun came with if I wanted it short of the colored/coated controls which I believe the military switched away from if what I am reading is correct.

I picked this up at 500 Guns over by the track on 16th. First time I have been in that shop. Its not very big but they seem to be focused on special or collectible guns. Its a cool shop. If you ever visit Indy you should check it out.

Going to break it in later this afternoon…

Well its finally done. Here is a few pictures of my first but not last 1911 build. I learned alot and gained some working knowledge of my favorite platform. I will admit I could have bought a really nice pistol for what I have in this (every part is Nighthawk Custom except the sights) and I ruined my first barrel so there's that but..
I have had it to the range and had to go home and do a little tweaking but I have it running quite well and the accuracy is outstanding.
