I've been reading "A Few Commonsense Gun Laws: Is There Such a Thing? Can They Work?" by Christopher A. "Kip" Crofts. I'm not finished with it yet but so far it's a well written analysis of gun laws in this country. The author logically picks apart the various laws, why/how they were passed, why they don't work, possible unintended consequences, and why they are not constitutional. Makes a lot of good talking points when discussing this issue with non/anti-gun people. The book was published recently and includes many of the issues that have occurred in the last couple of years.

Well worth the $2.99 Kindle price. I may get the paperback version eventually.
