Lincoln was a Republican but he was murdered by a Confederate in 1865. Thus, Lincoln was not around in 1877.

My ancestors were back on their farms in Indiana in 1877 and had nothing to do with the cave in to the Lost Causers and Redeemers so I don't understand what you are talking about.

Indeed mistakes were made. Was unaware of the official moniker and apparently 7th grade history didn't make much of an impression. It has only been 50 years since I studied it. Might have lost some of the info.

Funny because it’s so true. As former gov, if 2/3 of gov employees are fired, the 1/3 who actually do the work will cheer and be free to do their work more efficiently.
