An estimated 5-6 million unregistered firearms, about 65,000 turned in.

The generation of Frenchmen who remember what firearm registries were used for is almost gone, but I'm sure their stories are not.

My late grandfather (mon grand-père) told stories of WWII. When the Nazis rolled into town, the first place they stopped was city hall (l'hotel de ville) for among other things, the firearms registry.

They then went to all the addresses on the registry and you either handed over the firearms on the list, or received a bullet to the head.

Initially, the only firearms the resistance had were unregistered firearms... so it doesn't surprise me that the French authorities are only seeing something like 1% compliance.

    Would "we" do as well?

Stupid French! Don't they remember WWII History? Are the leftists really that stupid? Also, amazing how the left wing press in the USA jumped on this story. A$$hats for sure!
No-one remembers history, even recent history. As can be seen by the fact that the Democrats are full-on Socialist, and that is now considered "acceptable". It seems no-one even remembers the U.S.S.R. and what it was like.

Fools. Can you imagine some of the relics being hauled to the authorities ?
So sad to say the least.
The article above said the gov was going through them and some were sent to museums, the rest destroyed. Oddly, gov estimated 80-90% of them were acquired via inheritance. To me that would mean the gov is confiscating heirlooms, not removing dangerous weapons.

That is a mistake I am not willing to make. I served in 2 branches of our military and have taken 3 oaths that I haven't resented

    .
Joe will probably come away from his meeting thinking that it's going to be that easy here in America.

Interesting contrast, Macron marries his high school teacher, while Joe marries his children's babysitter.
