Yesterday was the day I considered cold enough to cut wood. And I had extra help visiting. His mom didn't send gloves so a pair my socks had to do.

I don't know why it is so hard to find mittens/gloves for the little ones. I ended up ordering some off of Amazon last year and they were not cheap.

Neighbors called and asked if wanted to clean up fence rows and his woods….:). Bunch smaller ash that’s hanging a couple feet off the ground = easy Pickens. Headed there tomorrow after work. Dragging bigger stuff out with the tractor and smaller I can cut and stack there to pick up this winter.. pictures to follow

Does it burn hotter than other hardwoods?
    :hehe:

When you can see through your stove you’ll know. (and I’m not joking)

edit: (osage orange) hedge, locust, wild cherry, mulberry, almost any fruit tree is great wood. Water trees willow, sicamore, lumbardy poplars and the like are poor btu’s per ft. Check out a source like google for btu’s for best fire woods.

If your stove is rated for it toss in a chunk of coal (one fist sized) with your fire wood, lots of heat. Don’t do this in an open fire place where you can’t control the air. Keep your flu clean if you are going to burn a hot fire.

after a good fire those ashes are white. It truly is all-nighter wood, and you'll have coals in the morning to just toss some more logs on to get the fire going again.

But that's not the best part. (Well, it kinda is ;)
) I like to open the doors with a small fire going and watch the 'popcorn' effect. Even better if you have a glass window, you can just turn the dampeners wide open and watch the effect. if I could post a video I would, but iykyk

Which one of you jackwagons drives an old dodge and came in to the woods with your truck and running chainsaws while I was trying to deer hunt?
