I LOVE seafood. I would eat fish 6 days a week.

I couldn't pick a favorite but here is what I eat:

    From salt water:
Lane and Mangrove Snapper are the best of the snappers IMO.
Hogfish, technically a snapper but nobody knows that.
    Grouper Gag and Black
    Tuna Blue and Yellow
    Wahoo (Ono)
    King fish
    Seabass
    Salmon

    Freshwater
    Perch
    Northern Pike
    Walleye
    Rainbow or Brook Trout
    Sturgeon

    Lots, can't get enough fish.

    Saltwater:
    Mahi
Spot/Croaker/Whiting (common catches off NC piers)
    Pompano
    Swordfish
    Halibut
    Flounder
    Grouper
    Salmon
    Monkfish
    Seabass
    Orange Roughy

    Fresh:
    Bluegill
    Yellow perch
    Walleye
    Catfish
    Crappie
    Smelt
    Trout

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more that I have had and enjoyed

Walleye followed by crappie then bluegill but they gotta be fried.

The only fish I care to eat that isn't fried is tuna.

...Favorite around here yellow perch then bluegill.

I like bluegill the best. My best yield nearby is crappie though. In my pursuit of crappie and bluegill I occasionally lope into a stray perch. Hardly ever more than one a day.

I cleaned and ate the tiny perch fillets last week and got reminded how good perch is.

I've never gotten up to Summit Lake, supposedly noted for it's jumbo perch. Wonder if there are any other central IN lakes noted for their perch populations?

They are kind of bony, so small ones aren't as good to me. Like you said, I have caught a few here and there. Have caught some at summit and even morse but that's been years ago. I think colder lakes are better.

I caught a couple last week, while crappie fishing, (in shorts and t-shirt.) I cleaned the fish I caught the second day. It was full of eggs. :n00b:

Freshwater: Anything in the sunfish family is at the top of the list including smaller bass. I won't turn down many fish of type but Walleye is very overrated in my opinion. I'd put flathead, drum, white bass and striper all ahead of walleye if properly prepped.

Saltwater: I'd probably put trigger fish, flounder, whiting, croaker, and Spanish Mackerel/small kingfish in the top tier. Mahi, gag grouper, tuna, pompano, marlin, red snapper would be in the second tier. I've tried the much hated hardhead catfish and while probably one of the worst saltwater fish I've had, it was still on par with channel cat.

What is your favorite fish to eat?

    Mine, hands down, is Bluegill.
Pretty much anything that isn't staring at me and still moving!
I do like gills, perch, crappie, redears... but... especially catfish, walleye, bass, swordfish!

Ok... I like all fish. Even crawfish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lord... I got snagged in a "necropost".... food... always gets me in trouble.
