Men with assault rifles raided a family who had been growing tomatoes and melons under grow-lights.

"It was just like on the cops TV shows," Robert Harte told The Associated Press. "It was like 'Zero Dark Thirty' ready to storm the compound."

Apparently all it takes to get raided is buying hydroponics equipment and materials for indoor gardening.

Dogs entered the home. The armed agents belittled the family and implied that their 13-year-old boy was growing marijuana in the home.

"If this can happen to us and we are educated and have reasonable resources, how does somebody who maybe hasn't led a perfect life supposed to be free in this country?" said Adlynn Harte.

I hope they've got a good civil atty.

I would love to see the probable cause affidavit for this warrant! Buying grow equipment doesn't rise to the level of PC in any jurisdiction I've ever heard of. Clearly they didn't make a buy out of the house, so....I'm willing to bet there's some extra stuff in there that the cops "assumed" were correct.

    Did they kill his plants????

After reading the article, looks like the family knows just what to do. Deputies sure did make a mistake going into that home.

They'll probably get a nice settlement...paid by the taxpayers. This will continue until there are actual civil and criminal charges against those who are committing these crimes, from the officers kicking down the door to the DA granting the warrant with trumped up cause.

Just another day and another set of innocent victims of the drug war. Met a guy years ago who had their greenhouse raided on the same premise. They MIGHT have been growing pot so the cops had to take a look. Of course they were all armed up and in their best soldier clothes. Eventually people are going to grow tired of this and treat them like the violent home invaders they are.

No, we only wish they would. They will bend over and take it like a good little citizen.

In this day in age, when pot is quasi-legal in almost half the US, police pursue pot offenders with blind rage (and AR15's), not for once thinking about whether what they are doing is in fact evil and wrong, and whether five years from now history will forever mark their actions as villainous, even if the person was really growing pot.

IMO it is a bad omen for mankind that police zealously waste more than half their budgets pursuing non violent MJ offenders. Half the cops probably smoked MJ in high school, and the other half probably believed lies they were told as children about how evil it is, and now judge their fellow man based on these lies. I'm not sure which is worse. This behavior of blind subordination is too remniscent of the Nazis. If they will be so zealous over pot, and hold no moral compass of their own, then what will happen when the law tells them to persecute some other harmless group of people? The answer is surely that they will obey any order with such zeal, and no care for the constitution or freedom.

More from the "War on Drugs" and the "Militarized Police".
The war on drugs is a "war" that they have been losing for decades, but the pseudo military that has become the police forces in the United States does worry me. If you ever notice that in oppressed countries, you can't really tell the police from the military. That is a problem that seems to be growing in this country.

Its funny how this works. The very police forces that kick in doors at night would want the people behind those doors to fight along side them if this country were invaded by a foreign country, beat back the enemy, so that things could return to where they could go back to kicking in doors again.

We are all American citizens, so we better learn how to work together again or we will all go down together. JMHO.
