EOTECH 557 Issues

I purchased a EOTECH 557 from a friend (trust friend, so I know it's not broke), however I'm having issues mounting it to my S&W MP15. It won't tighten to the rail, and is really wobbly. Is there a special mount I'm missing to get it to attach? Thanks.

I don't have pictures here, I'm sorry. I'll be coming home from Japan on Saturday. I could provide a very detailed description though (lol)

I know it sounds really obvious, but are you making sure the “screw” or post is landing in a groove of the rail.

When you try to tighten the the screw does it actually tighten down or does it just spin freely?

Make sure you have all the hardware also:

NOTE 1: Loosen screw just enough to mount and dis-mount the sight. Do not back screw out completely to avoid losing the Weaver® lock hardware.

I've tried everything I can think of. I have all the hardware it came with. It's completely screwed in when i turn it, but it just wobbles on the rail.
