The old management was all woke all the time. The assumption here is that Musk will just let her undo everything he has done to make a buck. If that was all he had been worried about, why would he have done the stuff he has already done?

Maybe he will let her take the company woke again, but I am at least willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until it happens.

Companies will take all the information and Twitter has to pay for anything that comes in or goes out. Apparently porn bots and govt agencies do a lot of scraping. By limiting the number of things a non paid user can see also limits how much data transfer is taking place.

It’s a bad enough problem as it is. Pretty much all the big data companies scrape data from other web sites. And those are usually just writing scrapers for specific websites. But add in AI crawler bots trying to learn everything on the internet. I can see why that’s a problem.

Whatever they can get.

For example, say you wanted to build a database of Floyd county home owners, addresses, and taxes owed. You could write a screen scraper to navigate to the county tax records, iterate through all the pages and record the information on it.

For finding “everything”, like you’d do for AI learning it’s considerably harder. It would have to be a web crawler similar to what search engines use to index information on pages. But with these bots they’d save the whole content.

BTW, this is a major reason captcha exists. To prevent bots from scraping your data.
