WWII German K98k, DOT 44. Not matching, frosted bore. However, this was imported in the early 90's from China, before Chinese arms were banned from importation. The laminated stock has been branded with a Chinese Star in the middle, "People's Armed Forces" at the bottom, and local militia (believed Tibetan) at the top. The stock has 2 holes drilled trough it. This is a northern (Tibet) area modification for a bipod. The rifle's markings retain all the original German proofs. This rifle went from German hands, Nationalist China, Communist China, then to ours. German weapons were taken by Chinese government from Europe and sent back to China for their use.
