Two words. Deep pockets. Money is the only relevant thing here.

At the end of the day I think you will see MJ legalized, but regulated. Guys like John Boehner don't get involved in this business unless it's a gold mine. MJ will be kept expensive and growing regulated, which will keep the cartels in business doing both legal exportation and illegal. Domestic growers will require a new group of Inspectors and regulatory paperwork. Some law enforcement will be cast in new jobs for MJ "revenoors".

The objective of this whole corrupt charade will be for leadership to extract the maximum amount of money from the public and spread it around to their friends, nothing else will change.

    Always follow the money
Correct. It isn't about changing the reality on the ground, it is about changing the list of people who make bank off of it so they in turn can funnel some of those profits back to the pols who made the big score possible

Uhhh, 29 states made marijuana illegal between 1916 and 1931, and then in 1937 weed was essentially banned nationwide by the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937

If there was such a thing as 'big Pharma' then, it was in Germany and had an AG or a Gmbh after its name

You are right yes, but as I said earlier I included the chemical industry.

DuPont was founded in 1802 and created many synthetics like polyester in 1928 and Nylon shortly after in 1935-1938. Even before that gun powder, and highly intertwined in the new car manufacturing boom where hemp could be used for the interiors and body panels, creation of oils and grease..

Hemp was used to produce rope/paper/textiles/clothing/considered for car body panels/etc before that which was a direct competition for Dupont.

So as I said. Between Chemical Industry and Big Pharma this is why the big push to make/keep it illegal.

Might as well just call it Big Money more than anything. I’m not even bringing up religion which also bought into the whole devils lettuce etc.

Lots of money in selling synthetics that requires replacement due to shorter life span of materials when compared to the many benefits of using hemp.

Anyways… lots of info on the history out there ;) lots of misinformation out there too.

So, if 'toxic' is what you meant, then the answer is yes. If lethal is what you were angling at, no one has done it yet

I would hesitate to declare it impossible. Alcohol poisoning is rare outside of fraternity style high intake binge drinking. Similar rapid intake overdose may be possible with THC although since it is not a CNS depressant it would seem less likely - but almost anything can kill you in high enough doses
You are from Columbus, Ohio so I know you're already full of ****, but to quote WebMD removes all doubt.

There are legitimate chronic pain management issues among people who want to obey the law, and that is why they wish to change it, and I have come to understand that (thank you, phylo)

I would like to support that desire without supporting a culture that seems to want to fit their life into drugs rather than fit drugs into their life. My personal experience with it (as an undergrad) was that it just makes you lazy and stupid. That period for me, as an engineering student, is littered with the memory of bright people who partied away their opportunity and squandered their gifts. My family experience with it is that weak people are not able to walk away from it when it is necessary to do so, and it corrodes what little willpower they can muster as well as numbs their perception of the very real consequences

The best compromise would be let people grow their own, but no commercial enterprises attempting to make ever more potent strains and ever higher profits. I think Weed Inc. has the potential to become just another Pfizer, if you had to grow it to partake it would eliminate any obstacle such as needing a prescription while putting some hurdles in the way of mass every day consumption and unseriousness about the process

I think there is just something maladjusted about wanting to be high just to be high, it is just escapism from life
The best part is NOBODY cares about your uninformed opinion. Not only do you not live in our state, you live in a worse state that already allows medical cannabis. Go bitch there instead

Did you miss the part where I said let people grow their own, but don't allow commercial enterprise

That's as far as I'm willing to go right now. The time and effort to grow their own would allow those who want to try it for pain relief or nausea relief or some of its other claimed benefits to do so but make it more difficult to have the quantities necessary to be stoned 24/7 as well as solve a potential problem of vastly increased potency. after all, I've been assured that there is no tolerance effect (that would imply addiction would exist) so hyper-potency would not seem necessary even if all they want to do is just get stoned

Still not seeing even the most cursory attempt to deal with such issues as detection of impairment as part of the necessary infrastructure of 'Legalize It!', either
Nobody gives a **** "how far you are willing to go" in a state you don't live in. Nor does anyone care about one anecdotal story of your brother . Cannabis is medicine to millions of people. It's not my job to explain that to you. This is the equivalent of people being scared of "assault rifles "

It's all the same. Using chemicals to paint over or numb the "difficulty" of dealing with mental issues.

This jumps back to the same issue in my post above. The attitude that seeks the buzz/intoxication is the problem. The idea that the buzz/intoxication is a reprieve from the daily stresses of life.

From alcohol to cigarettes to now pot, we have grown up watching adults do the adult thing, seek medicinal change for life's daily challenges.

We don't need to change any laws, we need to change attitudes that have been raised to seek the "fix" of chemicals used to solve emotional stress.
Untrue. Ever watched someone with Parkinsons DISEASE have ALL symptoms treated with THC oil? I have, every day. Is he high? Does he need a crutch? Is he only hiding from emotional stress?

No. He is managing symptoms and pain. And is finally able to sleep.. So **** you. You don't know ****

I don’t see why this question is controversial or potentially exposing hypocrisy.

There’s a difference between “should be” and “is”. On a gun forum, I’m pretty sure everyone pretty much has a disfavorable opinion of the 4473. It should not be the law. But it is. Marijuana being illegal should not be the law. But it is.

So, if Indiana made Marijuana legal, how would that impact that question on the 4473? Well that’s federal. I thinknwhat your question gets at, is that you seem to assume that the people who want to legalize MJ actually want it for selfish reasons, because they want to smoke it themselves, legally.

I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t take drugs. I think people should be free to do so, but with the only restriction, as long as doing so does not infringe on other people’s rights. Drink all the alcohol you want. You should get buried under the courthouse if you drive impaired, for example, and harm someone else. Same goes with Marijuana.

It’s as everyone else has said, if you do smoke, and it’s legal here, and that question is on the 4473, you have a dilemma. Either don’t smoke pot or don’t buy guns, or buy a gun from a private individual so that you don’t have to break the law by lying on the form.

My only concern with the socialists wanting to legalize pot is how they will use it as a trap. The ATF has info on gun purchases now. I cannot imagine what they would give to be able to use that to trap gun owners. All of a sudden a "contact high" can be criminally charged against someone.
You are delusional. Both of you.

That may be, but your Parkinson's patient isn't driving while ingesting that THC. I'm almost 71 years old and I didn't even know what marijuana smelled like until I worked as a driver for Hertz a couple years ago. Found out that what I thought was people running over skunks was actually MJ. Now I can recognize it when my neighbors' kids are smoking it in their cars.

People apparently get lulled into thinking "it's safer than alcohol" without realizing it's probably easier to be lulled into not noticing the effects on judgment and coordination.

Do you know that he isnt driving? Or does it allow him to drive since his body actually functions properly? Should he be arrested for driving with a debilitating disease if he doesnt take 14 pharma pills daily?

legalize it.. Pot and Prostitution.. I read the different post and i do not think i say anything about the now criminal problems with them being a illegal.. POT the cartels and some local groups and individuals are very violent and sometimes killing people over money or for informing to law enforcement or for being their competitors, STOP the cash flow to criminal groups.. Sometime dealing slavery and shipping American young girls to foreign countries.. And as for PROSTITUTION because it is illegal you have the worst of the worst praying on them getting them addicted and keeping them addicted to drugs beating them sometimes killing them.. I could go on and on,, it is about time that they become legal so the businesses can take the profits and put back in the American economy.. Also so protect those who are now under the thump of the criminal groups controlling them!!!

Indiana Democrats want to legalize medical and recreational marijuana. They say it will generate a lot of tax revenue.
Obviously, the next step is to legalize prostitution. It will also generate tax revenue and attract conventions (except the FFA) to the state. Additionally, it will provide employment for unskilled young people who don't want to bother with schooling.

Add purple if you think necessary.
What would be so bad about it being legalized? Too many people have criminal charges on their record just for having a small amount of pot on them. What horrible thing would they do after smoking it? Eat pizza and play with their dog?
