Is the act of threading a CX4 barrel alone enough to make it non-compliant with 922r?

Is there somewhere online that I can find parts list for a firearm in general and the VX4 specifically?

I don't want to SBR it because then I deal with interstate travel issues.

Not aware of any normal end-user gun owner ever being charged with or convicted of a 922r violation.

The only time I'd be concerned with 922r is if I plan to use the firearm in self defense.

If it's just for fun, I can't picture a way you'd ever end up in trouble over it.

Is simply modifying a part enough to run afoul of 922r?

And aren't those rules just for importers / manufacturers?

If you were SBRing it - you'd be "manufacturing" it.

You're simply removing a bit of metal that's on it.

FWIW, there isn't much barrel there to thread. Pretty thin afterwards; may not be the best idea. Especially if you are doing it on a .40 barrel. (Friend did it and regretted it.)

Company called Tornado Technologies can weld on extra metal around the perimeter and then thread that. I believe that's what they do to those Cricket rifles.

When I had my cx4 I read way too many negative stories about threading to justify doing it to mine.

The thing about 922r is that no one gives af about 922r. I've only ever heard it rumored as an add on charge to a felon in position of a firearm. And only when the local pd gets atf involved to push for federal charges.
