I was just about to post some questions, and looks like we've already got a thread! And, looks like there's a group right in my hometown, how about that!

Wee bit bummed about the firearms regulations though. I was hoping to do Wild Bunch with a Spencer 1882 pump I'm repairing, but it appears to be a no-go. Oh well. Guess I'd just have to buy more guns. ;)

So what club will you be visiting BogWalker? Most clubs that I know of only shoot wild bunch matches at the state level and up. Our club (Paradise Pass) allows you to shoot wild bunch in our monthly matches during the main match.

Had an awesome shoot at the Pass yesterday. 23 shooters with a couple up from Putnam county area. Range seems to have wintered decent. We shot all winter but with the snow off we can see some things to do. Lots of cleanup, then some new wood here and there. Can't wait to camp on the range this spring.

Well, the coldest shoot in my 14 years at this Saturday. It was 0 degrees when we started and warmed to a balmy 14 at the finish. H my first squib load, probably because it was so feaking COLD out!

Any of you pards that shoot out at Paradise pass shoot the cowboy long range after lunch? What ranges and targets do they shoot? What are most people shooting (rifle and class)? In the SASS shooters handbook the long range rules do not mention weights for the buffalo class rifles, does PP strictly use the SASS LRP rules or do they have some "house" rules. Do to life have not been able to make it to a shoot yet this year and won't until August. But I should have my rifle by then and want to work up loads.

SASS rules apply. We shoot match pistol at 40 -50 yards. .22 rifle from 75 to 125 or so on four targets. Main match rifles on same targets. Big bore lever (30-30 and up) at 275 or so and single shot rifles at the same range. Six shots on a full size buffalo for the big guns. We also do a Sharpeshooter event where you shoot six targets starting at 75 and ending on the buff.
No weight given on the buffalo guns that I know of but EVERYTHING is shot freehand. No rests or sticks.

We had quite a few spectators for todays shoot at the Pass. I spent the day with three of them to show them the ropes. Let them shoot my guns after the match. I gladly skipped the awards. It was worth it to see the goofy grins while they were shooting. And they did pretty good! It was a GREAT day. My thanks to the rest of the posse that did the chores while I spent time with these guys.
