I think the point the trooper was making is that since Indiana only recognizes states that issue permits, and if they don't issue one, indiana cannot recognize it, therefore illinois residents may not be legally allowed to carry in indiana. Word of advice, just dismantle the firearm if possible.

Aaaahhhh! When is taking legal advice, especially about guns, a good idea from cops, especially the state po-po?

and if they don't issue one, indiana cannot recognize it, therefore illinois residents may not be legally allowed to carry in indiana.

Unless said Illinois resident has a Florida, Utah, etc. license and does not maintain residence here.

Word of advice, just dismantle the firearm if possible

Under Indiana case law, a dismantled firearm can still a firearm.

Word of advice, get a license, Indiana if you a resident here, from anywhere if you are not a resident of Indiana.
