Depending on the type, age, condition, etc., some of those wooden cigar boxes could be worth more than the bullion you have in them.

About 20 years ago knew a fella who had a coin business. One day he called me up to discuss removing rust stains from coins, needing to avoid etching as well as mechanical disturbance of the surface. Seems that someones gramma had buried coins around the place in cans for many many years and the boys were bringing in essentially pristine pre-60's silver coins, but with rust stains.

So tomato cans in the back yard?

For Eagles, I use air-tites, in tubes, in a fire safe, inside a bigger not-fire safe. I am now reminded that I need to put some desiccant in there too.

FYI - Tubes and air-tites are way cheaper on eBay, Amazon, etc than they are from places like Provident. I like the coin tubes for other uses too, like drill and bit organization out in the shop, so I don't mind getting them in bulk.
