I have countless pieces that have color (Cerakote) which have all held up very well even my EDC rotation.Just how durable is Cerkote? I have only 1 slide done with Duracoat and really was not happy with it's durability. How durable is it with EDC in a leather or kydex holster?
No. Care has to be taken when prepping and applying the coating. Some relief work may need to be done on assembly but minor if the operator knows what he is doing.I don't know much about Cerakote. For example with a 1911 pistol, does it get applied to all metal surfaces including the inside slide surfaces and slide rails or is only applied to the external surfaces where there isn't a lot of metal to metal contact?
As with any coating leather is far more forgiving but again, my EDC rotation rides in either leather or Kydex with very minimal effects. My main EDC was coated 2 years ago, carried near daily and just now showing any signs of use. Mainly around the nose where any coating starts to show.Just how durable is Cerkote? Dont tell him I sent you. He may charge you off the street pricing.....I like that flat top. This might end up costing me more than I thought. Just have to set a time with him and go from there.
That gun started life as a SA Loaded. The bull barrel and so many other mods have been done. It has a melt done by hand. The ejector is hand fit etc and so on.I like that flat top. This might end up costing me more than I thought. Just have to set a time with him and go from there.
Is there enough meat for grip checkering on a RO?That gun started life as a SA Loaded. The bull barrel and so many other mods have been done. It has a melt done by hand. The ejector is hand fit etc and so on.
yes. Allen does a stellar job.Is there enough meat for grip checkering on a RO?
I do a lot of Cerkote. Proper prep is to blast to old finish off with aluminum oxide abrasive. But properly cleaned and prepped it would " probably " adhere to parkerizing.
Not what I would do but might work if you didnt have a sand blaster
