There is no such thing as a 'registered' or 'unregistered' firearm in Indiana.

Indiana does NOT have a firearms registry.

If you buy from a FFL, then they do their stuff. 4473 and such.
But if you buy with a person to person transfer, then there is no need to 'register'.

Because you shouldn't trust some stranger on the internet when it comes to legality, here is a link from the Indiana Government

Do I have to register my handgun in Indiana?

No. Indiana law does not require registration. Federal forms must be completed when purchasing a handgun from a dealer, but not private transfers or sales; however this is not a state registration program. Did anyone mention there is no firearms registration in Indiana?

Unless... you are carrying a S&W pre-Model 27 which of course was called... the Registered Magnum.

And the LTCH is alive and well here in Indiana, as is Constitutional Carry!!

The irony of this whole registration issue is that there are free states and slave states. Slave state Michigan requires handgun registration. Free states like Montana have no registration nor do they require a permit to carry.

The Irony is that is a Montanan can get an optional carry permit and can go to many slave states like Michigan carrying their "unregistered" handgun. That is the reason some folk opt to get the unnecessary permit.
