So, branching off the earlier Trump Popularity thread, here's one on the RCP Job Approval aggregated metric for the POTUS.

Interestingly, Trump started off with a -2 and never really went positive for any sustained period. Since he won the EC, but narrowly didn't win the popular vote, that kinda makes sense. A slight majority of people would be disapproving of the job he was doing, or at least lean that direction.

For Biden, he's starting out with a +14 or so job approval. Despite protestations of vote fraud, this suggests a majority of actual people are giving him a chance on the job approval.

Of course, Trump was always bitten by the Twitter problem. Lots of people may have disapproved of his job performance and the polls might've reflected that. Meanwhile, Biden doesn't do that, so people may be polling favorable to that.

Naturally, a mention of Rasmussen is de rigueur. They have the Biden approval as a tie, which is still contrarian to the other polls.

“Approval ratings” don’t mean squat to me. Biden with a +14? After the unions say they’re unhappy with his performance, many voters online are expressing their concern, and he hasn’t done much of anything. Meanwhile trump got 3 peace deals, lower taxes, booming economy.

Just more democrat/media/big tech manipulation to make their party seem better in some way.

Like giving Obama a peace prize for bombing hospitals, I’m not believing this.

It probably doesn't hurt that the MSM and social media aren't attacking him 24/7.
Fair. But it also doesn't hurt that he isn't handing them rotten tomatoes to fling at him.

I think the point is that he hasn't done much of anything - that's what people are approving of.

Look, after Obama and Trump, the hurdle to reach "success" for a POTUS is incredibly low. Don't make **** any worse than it is and people will be happy.

We've all heard the expression "Lead, follow, or get out of the way" - but for this presidency, I think it is more about NOT leading, definitely NOT following, and mostly getting out of the way.

Just MHO naturally. A 4 year caretaker POTUS that doesn't muck anything up too bad sounds like a good idea.

I fail to see anything Biden has done other than making **** worse. I know of nothing he has done which has or will serve to improve the lives of American citizens.

These types of polls are utter BS, manipulated to tell a story they want people to hear.

And yet, when Trump was doing well, certain INGOers trumpeted the results.

So were these types of polls BS then, too?

I get that people may not trust/believe/respond truthfully to pollsters. But statistics are real thing and so is polling. Ignoring the ones we don't like presents the risk of living in one's own echo chamber.

If he was promising me all the goodies he's promising to big media, corporations, BLM, and the clueless, I'd give him a positive approval rating as well...it's al about who's polled.
All of the RCP aggregated polls make their methodologies available (at least they did the last time I checked). Check them out for yourself.

I see alot of assumptions of trumps approval that are based on what could easily be considered enemies of free thought. This whole thought process is flawed.. would you ask the approval opinion of hens that are guarded by foxes?pretty sure the killer economy we had before covid, the lowering of taxes, the roll backs of regulations were all good and prosperous things to anyone wanting to shrink governments stranglehold. Meanwhile the lapdogs are jumping at the chance to fondle the globalist Fuhrer and right songs of how he singal handedly gave China the largest buhkake in history.

I am always suspicious of national polls. When in the last 2 decades have they been close to the truth. I have never been contacted by a national political poll in my life. Nobody in my family has...none of my friends. We have a president who won election with the strategy of staying in his basement while the incumbent was holding rallies. Maybe I’m cynical.

In this Trump was "ACTUALLY IMPROVING THINGS".....For real.

Bidiot has been on a 24/7 roll to completely dissimilate any and everything that was Trump. He has done nothing positive.
Job loss, fuel prices going north as he straps our butts back into foreign oil dependency.

For Crap sack it is a negative all the way around.

I think many voted for Biden as style over substance. Im not a fan of any Demo policies.

Trump accomplished quite a few positive things (substance), but his style overshadowed the positive. Of course, he was Trump!

When you promise the youth $50,000 off their college debt and the lazy people $2,000 for being lazy you will have a +14 approval rating. Wait until they finally figure out they are not getting anything Biden promised you know the typical lying Democrat Socialist party. I think his approval rating will drop like a aircraft carrier anchor.

Internet data, wow. We are living under the influence of a plague where the testing is as accurate as a coin toss, and leadership is making decisions based on this that affect the world economy.

Indeed. Some people love to vote themselves money. If they could look past the dollar signs, they'd see nothing is free. Problem is, once they get in under the guise of "free" money, they start wreaking havoc on guns, economy, you name it.

In every area of POTUS influence (which generally omits The Economy), Trump left the office and the country in worse shape than he received it.

I don't blame Trump for things beyond his control - like the pandemic. But to be consistent, one ought not blame Biden for Texas shutting down oil production and refining during a "snowstorm."

It is still early. Biden hasn't had much chance to "do" much of anything to further his policy statements. So, his numbers very much reflect a honeymoon period. But even in that regard, he's off to a better start than Trump.

The nation needs his numbers to fall between now and the midterms. (Although, depending on who you believe, the polls don't indicate anything of value for even that purpose.)
