    Asking for a little help from INGO.
    One of my imaginary internet friends on another forum posted this:

    My Uncle showed me this old bayonet:

    I stuck a piece of paper in the end to show the keyway clearly.

    They think it was handed down in the family. But no one knows how old it is or anything about it. Wondered if any of you might have an idea what era it's from.

    Based on the site that printcraft posted, my guess would be the Springfield Pattern 1807, but so many were all very similar so it's hard to say for sure. There are several that look to be really close.

    I agree it looks US. However, you may not ever be able to determine for sure. I think civil war era, because there are so many unidentifiable bayonets from that era. During that time, there was such a rush to create rifles and weapons that everyone and their cousin was making stuff, especially in the south where they lacked manufacturing capability.
