Decided to get a battle rifle together (or atleast what I think of as a battle rifle) saw this DD5V4 at the lgs and couldn't leave without it , just now starting to look at what optics and accessories I'd like to use
Let's see those battle rifle setups

I would like an AR-10, but then I realize I have no where to shoot it. That being said you can get a good deal on the Trijicon Credo 1-8 scopes and I have the original Accupower one and it has been a great optic. Able to achieve 600 yard hits with my AR loaded with 77's using that pairing.

If you want to get super fancy an offset RDS is really nice too.

This is my favorite rifle. It's a DDM4V1 with a Leupold Mark AR and RMR.

I don't have pics of the rest but there is a correct grade WWII Springfield and a Frankengarand that shoots lights out. My M1A is new and I haven't shot the barrel in on it yet. It has a scope mount so it may get some night time apparel. Like I have said, I love .30 cal.

A battle rifle doesn't have magnification.

308 isn't exactly a crazy long range round, at least with 99% of the ammo you'll end up shooting. About the same as a heavier 5.56 load in useful range. Just a lot more power and less wind drift.

What would a Winchester M1 fetch today? Wow.
I sold the one in the pic for less than $1200 IIRC. Pretty much everything was WRC except the gas system and it wasn't too hard to look at. I wasn't trying to rape anyone and I could have got more but where is the fun in that?

This way a super nice guy got a super nice gun...

Honest question , why does a battle rifle not have optics? I would consider an FAL to be a battle rifle, and while it has to be modernized slightly it can attach optics. Optics in this day and age are such a huge advantage IMHO it is foolish to give up that capability.

My current setup, needs some modifying though..

I removed the buis and threw them on my .22 pistol because they're junk and I need some better ones and the PA 5x was just for range fun. I'll put either another LPVO on it or a EOTech on it soon.

Stag lower with a SSP Geissele trigger, hogue grip and a B5 Sopmod stock. PSA Freedom poverty upper with raptor CH + toolcraft nickel boron BCG - 2500+ rounds through it. Surefire M300C light and a PA 5x ACISS

So this just might be because I am under 30 but to me that is kinda a retro Rhodesian bush war rifle , when I think FAL I tend to think about the modernized options from companies like DSA
