Horrible time to be buying a sxs. Used market is over priced, and new units are nonexistent.

If it was a normal market, I’d tell you to go down to your Polaris dealer and pick up a Ranger 500 for $9000 dollars new. That is what I have, love the open rear diff mode for not tearing up the grass, and climbs like a goat in AWD.

I have a '04 John Deere Trail Gator HPX. I bought it new and used it in MI at our cabin for trail riding and hauling wood. I wasn't fast but was safe for the grandkids to be trusted on. It is registered here to ride on the roads. We have since sold the cabin but can't let my Gator go. Sitting in the big garage with the truck and boat. The only two option that I wish I had were power dump and power steering. Can't find either for the '04.
    Have a great day.

Jim's right on here. I have the power dump, it is very handy. I don't have the power steering and it is difficult to turn the wheel when you're not moving. But the upgrade is pricey (as is all things Deere), so you learn to work around it.

I don't think the after market kits will fit the '04 HPX. That is the 1st year mfg for them. It most likely could be made to work with some modifications.
    Have a great day.

I am finding out the supply in lean. Good thing I’m not in a crazy hurry.

Since you aren’t in a hurry, I’d find a Polaris dealer and order one.

Sucks that they went up $1000 dollars, but still the best deal, if budget is top priority.

If in no hurry , contact a dealer and have them get in touch with you when trades come in . I have a good friend who is the sales manager at a Polaris/CanAm dealer . They get quite a few trades in when new machines arrive . PM me if you want his contact info .

Like the OP, I had a Club Car XRT 1200. It was a work horse, and I loved it. The only down side was the lack of power. It’s basically an oversized golf cart with a bigger motor, but not big enough.

I sold it before I moved to Texas, because I knew I wanted something more powerful, and 4wd.
I looked at all the brands and decided on the Can Am Defender. Deciding was the easy part. Locating one was the chore. The used ones cost as much as a new one, and the new ones are almost nonexistent. After a few months, I was driving by a dealership and found one that had just got there. Bought it on the spot.

It’s the HD8, 800cc Rotax engine with 50HP, 4wd with a manual rear differential locker, and an automatic front. It will go places I wouldn’t think about taking it.

I pull down and cut trees out of my woods all the time with my Mule. Climbing hills are no problem, I can select 4 wheel high, low and I can also lock front and rear differential with a push of a button. 20220121_160635.jpg

    That’s a good looking machine!
If Kawasaki would redesign their bed, I’d have bought one. Two latches on the tailgate, and two latches on the bed, WTF?
Love the half doors as opposed to the nets from the others, but I couldn’t get past the bed.
The Can Am has a truck style bed (single latch in the middle), and I can dump it from either side. I miss the power dump from the Club Car, though.

Here is a picture of our two 1000cc Rangers. We went out and cut up some dead ash this afternoon.
The TSC racks are a little pricey, but they are handy when hauling wood.
