    I've always thought the US method of deciding what should be serialized is dumb.

    If you're going to serialize anything, it should be the barrel.

    Countless historical relics have been destroyed due to this ridiculous system. If they only focused on the barrel, most of those firearms could have been salvaged.

    Destroying historical pieces regardless of serial number is dumber than owl ****.

    ... they are just clarifying that they have the power to determine which part is the "firearm" for split receivers, due to court rulings saying the lower isn't a firearm because it doesn't contain all of the fire control components
    they are just clarifying that they think they're above the law, aren't bound by what Congress legislates, and can make up s*** to do end-runs around the courts.
